Question about registering an out of state car into California

Link

Well not only is it out of state... it's also out of the country. 🙁

I'm gonna have a lot of taxes to pay if i were to spring for this huh? I suppose passing smog would not be a problem if you know the right people... but i dunno. Too bad though... not that many nice FDs left. 🙁

Good Luck, without the California emissions equipment I do believe you are going to have a real hard time.

Well if i did have the money... the price is still a bit high anyway... $20k for a 10 year old car is 😕 might as well keep looking for something else closer. 🙁

No big deal if you're coming from another US state, but I don't know about from Canada.

If you're coming from another US state, as long as your tail pipe emissions is within California levels for the year of your vehicle, you just pay a one-time $300 something out-of-state 'fee' to register your vehicle in California for the first time. You are not required to have California CARB/CAFE emissions equipment on your vehicle, that's only for new vehicles sold in California. For all other vehicles, its strictly a performance based standard.
