question about refusing a FedEx delivery

So, I tried to cancel an order from Newegg but it had already shipped (even though the website said it was at Step 2) so they told me to just refuse delivery and they'd give me a refund. Only problem is I'm not going to be here when it's delivered, and they always leave it at my door when no one's here. So can I just leave a note telling them I'm refusing delivery? Anyone done that before? Do I have to give a reason or anything?

I would leave them a note with the tracking number.

I take it you have nobody there who can refuse it for you?

I have done it before and it worked, here's what I did:

Printed the FedEx tracking page showing the tracking number
Wrote a short message stating I am REFUSING the package and would like it returned to the sender.
Signed and dated it
Tape it to the door

I did the same thing for UPS and FedEx... :D

My neighbor said the UPS guy just tore the note off from our door and he was pretty pissed...

There's no reason they should be pissed, the packages I've refused the drivers were really cool about it.

As Viper GTS stated, there's no reason for them to be pissed.

It's just a part of their job.
