Question about references in websites

I want to site some medical facts (eg normal blood pressure is 120/80, heart rate is 80, resp. rate is 12-20) on my website. I'm assuming it's legal if I site the reference source (American Heart Association)

My question is what if I get some facts from a book. Will siting the ref. source be enough or do I need permission from the author. I will be only using a few numbers and facts and not reproducing anything else. Please help.

better safe than sorry,
imop you should get the permission of the copyright holder. most times they will say no problem, if you are doing a personal page or a non-profit page. i found this to be true while i was running my rodeo and horse info pages. in fact there were a lot of times that the person i contacted ended up providing me with more stuff than i was asking to use. never hurts to ask, but i could hurt if you don't

as long as its for non profit educational reasons and you cite properly I dont think you should have a problem. Make sure to state in your phrase somthing like "I found some information from ____ about ...."
