Question about rechargable batteries.

I might buy a maha mh-c401fs charger and some AA 2200 mah batteries for my digital camera and some other things.

I noticed that on www.thomasdistributing.com it says.

Q: I have not used my NiMH batteries in several months and they are not holding their charge. How can I fix this?

A: NiMH batteries will self-discharge if left unused. Generally, within 30 to 60 days, batteries will become completely drained. When using them, you will need to first recharge them. After extended storage, you may need to simply recharge the batteries several times to regain nominal performance.

Does this mean even if I have the batteries in a low drain device like a remote or a small clock that I will still have to recharge them every 30-60 days?
Even the very cheapest nonrechargable batteries I can buy i Wallmart last a lot longer than that in a remote.
Are rechargable batteries mostly for high drain devices then?

in a word - yes.

Devices that draw small amounts over a long period (smoke detector or clock) and things that get used infrequently (remotes and such) are better suited with Alkalines.
