Question about rechargable batteries...

Can I use the quick charger with all my batteries? Anything special about the batteries that came with it?

You should buy the pre-charged rechargeable batteries from your local RatShack!

Your best bet I think is to get the Energizer or Duracell batteries made for 15 minute charging. Slow charge batteries would be iffy.

eh, it doesn't matter.
i use a duracell 15 minute charger, has decent cooling fan so its kinda loud, but it gets the job done and batteries relatively cool.
i use hybrid batteries now, no point in dealing with high self discharge nonsense
fast chargers do sometimes reject batteries though, if a batteries slightly off/cheap/aged its internal resistence might be higher and so it can't be charged as fast. atleast that applies to 15 minute charger, dunno about 1hr. those batteries still work in a regular charger.

I <3 eneloops, but I've never heard of "hybrid batteries". a quick search brought up some batteries by Rayovac marketed as such.

Yes, Hybrids are Rayovac's equivalent to Sanyo's Eneloops, but I haven't seen any conclusive comparisons of which is better. I'll tell you what though. I got a pack of Eneloops on Halloween marked Sept of last year when they were last charged. Still have much of their capacity left. No way in hell any regular NiMH could approach that longevity, not even the 2700mAH+ cells.

However, these low self-discharge cells typically have less overall capacity, so if you charge and use your batts a lot and right away, some normal high cap cells would be a better choice. These things are excellent for every other occasion. Charge in any NiMH charger, high-drain applications, keeps their charge. I don't think I'll buy any other NiMH.

hybirds are just proprietary batts that all the manufacturers are developing now. instead of adopting a certain kind, like MH or Li-ION, they are all going on their own and trying to make the best concoction. I am weary of buying hybrid batts when i know my MH batteries can be recharged by many many different chargers out there, and they will not be phased out for a very long time.

they arent proprietary. they are just special nimh's. i have enloops, rayovac hybrids, and kodac precharged. all work the same..low self discharge. they run on any normal charger. i guess the most generic name for such batteries is precharged. they are best for most applications. only time regular nimh is good is when you know you'll use the full battery capacity today.

This is a do as I say not as I do comment, but regular alkalines are also rechargeable a few times. I've done it for years as have many others, do a google search, but be warned they can leak or explode as is noted on the battery.

I hadn't heard of the Kodak version, but I think they're pretty stupid to call them precharged. It fails to capture the key advantage of the battery that justifies the higher price and lower capacity. But then again, consumers are stupid.
