Question about Ratchet and Clank series

I started with Going Commando and played through the series until I ended it with Tools of Destruction, then skipped over to Into the Nexus. I kinda got burnt out after ToD, but I was told that skipping the first R&C and A Crack in Time was a huge mistake on my part. I absolutely love the series and if they make a halfway decent R&C game for the PS4, that alone would be enough for me to buy the console.

So, am I missing out by not playing the original and ACiT? I can always pick them up and I've read the new R&C in development is revamping and reimagining the first game so there won't be any nostalgia for me, but I felt like the games were getting stale with ToD and I might have missed out on a lot by skipping ACiT.

Thoughts?

I wasn't aware the PS4 version had already been released. Looks like I'll pick up both the original and ACiT then and if the original is really good, I'll grab a PS4 when they drop in price.

Thanks for the input. Any other will be appreciated.

Love the series. Played all of them back to the original on PS2 and I just platinum-ed the PS4 R&C a few weeks ago. Actually I platted all the Future versions. I'm waaay to old to be playing them, but it is tons of fun and I was surprised at how much joy the nieces and nephew had when they played it. They especially couldn't stop laughing when that big fish (I think Crushto) eats Ratchet, chews him for a bit then spits him out. And that wasn't even a cut scene, just a special boss move he does in the battle arena. I laugh for a different reason since it's symbolic of when bad women divorce good men and take half of yo'sht. 🙂

Regardless, I enjoyed playing A Crack in Time and Into the Nexus the most. The bolt debris drops and weapon destructions are endless. It's even MORE joyous of R&C on PS4. While having one Mr. Zircon qip is funny. Having the entire Zircon family including Mrs. Zircon is hilarious. Into the Nexus will obviously be the most polished and Crank's side scrolling gravity missions were the best. ACiT's cut scenes started to become too whiny and yelly like daytime kids shows, but the game itself is still fun.

I've yet to replay the remastered HD 1st 3 off the PS3. I played the PS2 versions on the PS3 back in the day. I wouldn't mind playing it again.

I still have the original games on the PS2.

The 1st game focused more so on the comedic side of things. There are definitely some rough points in game play that GC really fixed, but story-wise, it works. It's funny, with a few really good moments on part of the voice actors.

For combat mechanics, I really enjoyed Going Commando. I felt that game fixed and improved upon nearly all the flaws that bugged me in the 1st. The addition of Strafing was a big one. Most of the weapons also felt much more finely tuned, and (with some exceptions) didn't strike me as completely random.

I always loved upgrading the weapons just to see what they would do at their next level, but some weapons were just extremely boring to upgrade (Quantum Whip) and by the time you upgraded them, they still weren't really worth the time invested.
