Question about RAM

ok, I have one stick of 512MB of Corsair XMS PC3200LLPT. It was expensive RAM and it obviously runs at 400mhz.

However, I also have another stick of RAM that is Kingston HyperX which is only PC2700.

My question is, would it be better ot have a Gig of RAM running at 333mhz, or is it better to stick with the 512mb running at 400mhz?

you'll get smoother gameplay in general and i think the extra RAM helps the FPS more than better timings...

so yoiu guys think that having 1gig of ram running at 2.7gb/s is better than having 512 mb of memory running at 3.2gig/s?

It may be possible for that PC2700 to run at DDR400 if you relax the timings and up the voltage.

The more memory the better. 1 gig of ram running at pc2700 is still accessed in Nanoseconds compared to milliseconds if the hard drive is being used as swap memory when the 512mb runs out.

think of it this way...

1gig at 2.7 GIG per second

or

512mb at 3.2 GIG per second *plus* unlimited mb at 60 MEG per second when you start paging everything
