Question about RAID

Do you need two IDENTICAL Hard drives?...or will any two drives work?...how about "similar" drives? I have a Maxtor 120gb 7200rpm 8mb HDD...will a WD 120gb drive work with it in a RAID setup?

Yes it will work fine. You actually don't even need identical sized drives either.

When using disimilar drives (size or make/model) you are generally going to be limited to the lesser of the two drives. For example if you have a 40GB 5400rpm drive and a 80GB 7200rpm drive you will be limited as if you are running two of the 40GB 5400's. You'll also have 40GB of leftover space on the 7200 that you can use for a different partition.
