Question about RAID controllers, Highpoint/Promise/Adaptec...

I have a question... I have 2 * 30gb WD 7200rpm hard drives connected to a HPT 370 RAID Controller card, running as Striped 0.

My question is, if I wanted to take those two hard drives out, and connect them to a motherboard that has a Promise Fasttrack RAID controller integrated, would I have to reformat and re-stripe/re-build the array? Or could I just plug it in, and it would read properly?

I haven't tried it, but I think that it won't work and you have to reinstall. The drivers are different, and I'll bet that many other aspects are incompatible. You can try to simply update, but I don't think that would work, either.
