Well, kind of simply questions, which I need clarified. Do the hard drives need to be identical (I'm just curious even though I plain on using two (2) identical Maxtor 40GB)? Also for you ABIT TH7-II users, was it simply to setup? I?ve looked at the bios settings and everything seems straightforward. And what are your experiences using RAID 0 (for all you performance junkie?s)?

This is actually my first time giving RAID a shot, so I am pretty much all ears.

1) They don't have to be identicle but if they are not, you would be loosing some space. e.g. If you use a 20 gb and a 30gb HD in raid-0, then you would be able to use only 40gb of space.
2) I have use the same highpint controller on other mobo and it was simple. read the manual.
3)for performance, you will get great benchmark score :p. For me, I like scsi for hard drives better than ide raid-0.

So let me make sure I understand this correctly, the array capacity if I were to use 2x 40gig drives will be 80gigs? Or just 40gigs?

OMG, what a huge change. I know others have their options, but I can defiantly tell my comp is much more peppy. Installing software is quicker, accessing large images are a snap etc? everything is just much more responsive! To be honest when I bought this board I never expected to use the RAID, but I?m glad I did; now I can never go back. :)
