Question about Quicktime

How come quicktime uses so much CPU power when it's minimized? or is this something unique to my computer? When I have that the task manager up (with the CPU graph in the taskbar) while I watch quicktime videos, the CPU usage is at about 15%, when I mimize Quicktime, it jumps up to 100% and I hear the sound become jumpy. This happens with various .mov files, why is this?

It's sloppy bloatware. Some would say malware as well, though I'm not in the mood to start that debate, nor is it within the scope of this thread ;) For .mov & .qt files use Quicktime Alternative.

I heard about that before, I might try that. I really hate Quicktime and how I can't watch movies full screen and how I have to continue purge it from my startup.

I still don't understand why it would use 5-6 times more CPU usage when it's minimized.
