Question about purchasing hardware.

Is it a good idea to look on pricewatch and just purchase from the cheapest place? Besides high shipping what are the other disadvantages? I am mainly referring to the processors. Some have a 15 day warranty or 30 day warranty. If they are genuine chips (intel or amd) why would they not come with a warranty more than 2 weeks???? I know they don't include heatsink/fans but it just doesn't make sense. Am I missing something?

Yes. You are missing a lot. The cheapest vendors on pricewatch are often the scum of the Earth. Advertise a cheap price and then slam you with excessive shipping? Seems like sound business practices. NOT. Look at the total price and buy from a reputable vendor. Check out Reseller Ratings to get an idea about who you are dealing with.

They are sold in bulk to system manufacturers, and are not officially meant for individual sale to end-users. OEM's handle the warranty risks themselves in exchange for a tidy price break.
