Question about PSP memory sticks

I figured the console subforum would be the best place rather than the memory subforum.

Anyways.

I bought a PSP 3000 last week but it didn't come with a memory stick. As I've stated in previous topics, I'm only going to be playing PSX games so I need at least a 16GB stick or larger.

My question is this: Will this memory stick work? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9SIA1EK10U2203

I don't know that much about memory sticks and I've seen some of them say Pro Duo and some say Pro HG Duo and others that have Pro HG Duo SDHC. I'm buying a card from Newegg because no stores carry anything higher than 4GB (a $39 4GB card for that matter) cards and I really don't want to wait a week only to find out it isn't compatible.

Any information on memory sticks for what I'll be doing with my PSP is greatly appreciated. Feel free to add any opinions on whether or not 16GB is sufficient, insufficient, or overkill.

I don't remember much but i believe a cheaper option would be an adapter like this:
http://www.amazon.com/SANOXY%C2%AE-M...eywords=psp+sd

Yep, I recently purchased that exact item, and it works fine. To note, you do not have to use two Mini-SD cards in it at once. I just put a card into the first slot on the adapter, and my PSP saw it without any problems.

I've also used Memory Sticks in the past, and they're just too pricy because they're not really used anymore. My PSP has a fairly normal 2GB SanDisk Memory Stick Pro DUO in it right now.

Forgive my ignorance, but if I buy that adapter, which memory cards would I have to buy now? I just want to make one order to have my memory here at the same time so I can start playing my old PSX games. I'm taking this to the oil field with me and considering I'm going on a three-week job in two weeks, I'd like to have it ready and full of games for my trip. Being gone from home for weeks at a time really sucks, but being able to play some PSX and SNES games while I'm gone will make the trip a little more tolerable.

Edit: At the bottom of that Syndrome's link, it lists that people have purchased a 64GB micro SD card with that adapter. Will that work for the PSP or should I look for something else?

yeah they are adapters so you can use a relatively cheap micro SD instead of an expensive mem stick duo

if only they made these for the vita already 🙁

i don't see in the comments that they use a 64gb, since compatibility for those cards is not widespread i would go with a 32gb to be on the safe side

Just ordered a 32GB combo with the adapter. 17 Reviews stating the combo works with their PSP 3000, so I guess I'll just have to hope I get an authentic SanDisk and not some fake, corrupted, or refurbished card (I've read a lot of horror stories about this).

Thanks a lot for the information on the adapters.

I haven't tried a 64gb card in a PSP, but I know that I have gotten my 64gb cards to work in every device I'd put it in, even when they said it would only support up to 32GB. I just had to download Partition Wizard and format it to FAT32 and it will work.

But 32GB is a very large amount of capacity for your PSP, It would take you alot of time to play all the games you can fit on it. I have used 32GB cards in the single adapters and they work great, I've also used two 16gb cards in the dual adapters and they worked alright, I've had a few of them get corrupted on me and I had to reformat them both and start over.
