Ok so I want to direct quote a piece of information off this website, but there is no author anywhere on the site. Only thing I could find was a picture of the site editor, not even a name. So what would be the proper way to cite that piece of information?

Go to http://www.easybib.com and it'll walk you through the citation process.

As for websites, if there's no author just follow the format starting with the first piece of information you DO have.

Ok, that tells me exactly how to cite it on my works cited page, but in the actual paper how would I do it? For instance would I say according to "the website and date" or what?

If you're using parenthetical notations when referring to your sources, you don't need to say "according to so-and-so." Just write the paper using those ideas, but make sure to put a notation where you're making use of an idea from an external source.

I.e. if you were writing about EasyBib, you could say, "And it's true - EasyBib really is the easiest way to write a bibliography (jumpr, 42)." And you would have an entry in your bibliography under Jumpr.

Im not using parenthetical though, its an exact quote. Can I even do that if it doesn't have an author listed?

What sort of citations are you actually *doing*, then? There are three types of citations, and if you're writing an MLA-conforming paper, you'll have one of these: endnotes, footnotes or parenthetical notations + bibliography.

Im quoting word for word from a site. So would I use "blah blah blah this is the quote" (Page title, number) or something to that effect? And then include the URL in my bibliography. Or is there something different that I would do?

do what i said ^^

unless it's a really long quote. then you would do something COMPLETELY different (not really but still)

Well it is a long quote (quite a few lines) what different would I do?

See Ima bum and don't feel like putting it in my own words so that it would just be parenthetical, i'd rather just quote exactly and be done with it :)

block quotes should be single spaced and tabbed on both ends.

say what you want in order to provide information about the upcoming quote. i don't know how picky your teacher/professor is, so use your own discretion.

Say whatever you want and then (author, page...or "par. 4 if it's a website, as page doesn't really work.)
