question about progressive scan

I have a JVC AV27D303 TV with a 3 line digital comb filter. I just got one of the new slim sony PS2s that support progressive scan. Can I now watch my DVDs in progressive scan mode? Do I need special cables or DVDs for this?

Im currently using the component cables....

aaahhh thats what it was! i knew it was one feature and I wasnt sure if it was HD or the comb filter.
