W7x64 with Prime95 v25.11 build2 SoB on i7 but it's running 8 worker windows on the 8 threads. Is it be better to just run 4 threads or should I keep the 8 threads ?

SOB is pretty easy to test the speed from if you want. Just manipulate the threads down to four, or even 2 threads per unit and compare the average times. You wont lose any of the work units they will just be in the queue in case you want to switch back.

Unless things have gotten better with intels HT over the P4 era it was better to run one unit on both HT's than a separate unit for each HT.

iirc you want 4 worker windows and 2 cpus under the TEST-> worker windows tree.
I believe right now you would be at 8 worker windows 1 cpu.

tried several things, basically if I reduce to 4 windows the cpu cores are only at 50%
in other words....

i5 = 4 cores 4 threads at 100%
i7 = 4 cores 8 threads at 100% or 4 threads at 50%
