Question about prime 95

Ok well i uppsed my cpu again 2 2.5 ghz its a 3000+ winchest on stock cooling.
Last night i ram prime95 for 8 9 hours and i detected 0 problems.
Would this indicate the cpu is fairly stable ?

Which test did you run??? I would follw it up with memtest either the windows model with as much background turned off as possible or the bootable version and run 50 pases of test #5 and #6....Some say 8 but I would get errors in 5 and 6 long before 8.....

"fairly" stable I would say that....Sometimes with prime you make it past 4 hours pretty much any error after that has to do with memory and timing issues...

Amen to that, 12 hours is where I typically stop my runs, but anything over an hour is usually a really good sign that you will make it to 12 in my experience.

Ahhh..

An hour might be a little conservative.. I think closer to 3 or 4 like Duvie said.. I don't think I have ever errored out afer that except once @ 17hours.. Ram timing issue..

Hey, does using other programs while having Prime95 going cause errors?

Not normally.. P95 will give up CPU cycles if needed.. I do my daily computing while running P95.. It shouldn't cause it to error out.. I have turned my cold cathode off while my machine was on before and P95 errored..

Firefox, itunes, AIM, whatever... even while doing those, it's constanstly @ 99% CPU usage..

If you really want to test stability, start Super Pi 32M, then Prime95, then a 3dMark of your choosing. Guarranteed to really put some stress on your system 🙂 Yes, an hour is conservative, but I think that if you are oc'ing, after an hour it is safe to go try and make it go faster.
