I was looking at the pricing for the FX-53 on newegg, and beyond the eye popping price for the fx-53, I wasnt sure why the retail cpu costs $76 more than the oem? Is the retail heatsink/fan really worth that much?

Isnt that the case for all processors, not just the FX-53?

I got my retail fx-53 from zipzoomfly for 825.(showing up tomorrow :) ) It's a big deal cause of the awesome warranty. Except i think zip's price went up to 855 now. Still cheaper than newegg.

Sorry to change the topic, but what motherboard did you get with it? Choices for mobo are kinda limited.

Ge the Gigabyte board. I've tried the Asus AV8, actually 3 of them, and they are so picky with RAM. The Gigabyte board rocks!

I got the Asus AV8 board, I hear later revisions of this board are much better than the ones introduced. I bought OCZ 3700EB ram with it, I'll let you know how it works when I hook everything up. Should be monday or tuesday. To almostinsane, what kind of ram did you get?

Its also the priciest one, $232 at newegg.com and always seems to be out of stock.
