Question about prescription sunglasses

Got just a new pair of specs and the store is offering a second pair free.

I'm thinking about getting prescription sunglasses but having to carry another pair of glasses to wear when I go indoors doesn't sound very appealing.

Is it possible to get lens with a tint level that is acceptable for outdoors but is not to dark to be worn inside too?

They have different shades of tint available, however the way it comes out can be dependent on lens material.

Have you looked into transisitons lenses?

Transitions are good. They get fairly dark, but not dark dark. That's why at my workplace, we refer to them as "comfort lenses." they turn enough to block some sun out, but it won't be extremely dark. And also, they will NOT turn dark at all when you drive, because the UV rays are blocked by the windshield of a car(UV is what makes the lenses change color).
So, depending on your store, I would ask to get a light tint to start out. Once you get them, if they need to be darker, ask them to tint it more.

I ordered a grey/green tint at 75%. Sound okay as a general purpose singlasses?

Lenses are Nikon 4's.

I could also suggest Sunsensor lenses. They are available in Grey and Brown. Grey/Green at 75% is going to be too dark for indoor use.

Sunsensor or Transitions lenses would work fine for you. I fabricate tons of this stuff for eyewear...
