Question about port fowarding

I have a linksys router w/ the 4 port. As of right now I have 2 computers connected to it. Now I believe the ports that BT uses ranges from 6881-6889. So if i foward 6881-6889 to the 1st computer, how am i suppose to run BT on the second computer?

BTW when im using Aol Internet Messanger (AIM), i can't send people stuff even when they're not behind router or any firewalls. Do i have to port foward even when my computer is the dmz host?

ya sorry i posted in the wrong forum, i thought i posted it in the networking forum. MOD please move it for me. THanks

You will have to forward the ports do both private IP's of your two computers.
forward 6881-6889 to ----> IP of comp 1 192.168.1.100
forward 6881-6889 to ----> IP of comp 1 192.168.1.101

You shouldn't have to if you are in the DMZ.

snowpeas:
it's a little tricky, but you can set up BT to use a different set of ports
here's what you do: go to folder options, then file types. once there, find type torrent (extension .torrent)
open up the entry (Advanced or just Edit, depending on the windows version), and change the call to
"C:\Program Files\BitTorrent\btdownloadgui.exe" --ip [your public IP] --minport [port number] --maxport [port number] --responsefile "%1"
this way, those ports are used instead of 6881

cheers
p.s. next time check the forum 😉
