I have recently ended up with this ancient CDR drive, and don't have any software or documentation for it. It reports to windows as Matshita CD-R CW-7502. SCSI controller used is Adaptec AIC 7850 (cheap one, I got it bundled with my scanner). When attempting to burn a CD (using demo version of GEAR 5.0), I get the following error:
Write operation was not successful.
Illegal SCSI request reported by CD recorder.
SCSI driver error code = 02052400h
Updating the firmware from 4.10 to 4.17 didn't help.
I tried using NTI CD-Maker 2000, and in a test run, it gave no errors. However, when I tried to actually burn a CD, I ended up with an "Illegal request" message, and a coaster. Here is the session log file:
