Question about physicals......

So i have my physical saturday morning at 9am.

I work friday nights at a bar and to stop drinking/eating after midnight, while not hard, is just a little annoying. B/c i dont leave work till 5am.

So i asked her what the latest appointment is and she said 3pm. So i said if i take the 3pm appointment does that mean i can eat/drink till 3-4am. She said no, you still stop at midnight.

I just dont get the logic. If my appointment is 9am, how can the time i stop eating/drinking be the same as a 3pm appointment?

It's just to make it less complicated. If you had to have every office administrator calculate the time you should stop eating/drinking you'd have a whole world of problems, imo. Saying midnight makes it clear, easy, and consistent for everyone.

[edit]I should note that I don't know for sure; the above is just my opinion.[/edit]

i agree with simplicity. but is there a standard amount of time before your appointment ur supposed to stop?

Long enough for your body to have metabolized everything, so that the blood and urine tests aren't thrown off... however long that is. And make sure that you're hydrated.

doctors just do things one way
they don't use logic, they just do stuff a certain way to keep it simple

I agree with being hydrated... makes it alot easier for the lab technician to draw blood.

Or so I've been told by the techs in the lab I've been to.

im just really dreading having to stay awake friday night.

working 830-6 then 11-5ish is gonna be hell after midnight just on water....
