Question about pharmacies: different prices in different places?

Just wondering. I'm probably going to call Walgreens and a few other places in the morning to see what I can find out. On Monday, my doctor gave me a new prescription, and I took it to the pharmacy in Walmart because it was right on the way home. So I dropped it off and piddled around in the store while they filled it. When I went back to pick it up, the bill was $115, after insurance :Q . For one stupid prescription! So, needless to say, I'm need to try and find a way to get it cheaper, if I can.

Sure different places have different prices. Walmart might also be the cheapest but there is no reason you cant call a pharmacy and ask the price.

You might want to check if you can get a generic version that much cheaper...hopefully that isnt the generic price.

Is there a generic equivalent? I'd presume not, or you didn't opt for generic with that kind of after-insurance price.
Did you try Costco? Target? Wal-Mart?

I recently had to get prescription eye-drops for an eye infection. Having no insurance, I called around and priced it. MANY places were around $30. for the generic, Costco and Target were about $11, and Wal-Mart was just over $7. In almost all cases, the name brand was $65-$75...

Honestly, I don't know; I'd have to do some investigating. The medicine is Provigil; I'm taking it as a way to treat narcolepsy. I know it doesn't sound like much, but if I *don't* take it, I'm liable to lose my job for sleeping through meetings. No joke.

As for other pharmacies, I live smack in the heart of Walmart country - I actually work at one of their HQ offices in Bentonville. So as far as other *stores* go, they are about the only game in town. There are other, more pharmacy-related places like Walgreens and US drug that I can check out, though.
