Question about PDA Phones

Hello!

I was wondering if you can use any PDA type phone with Sprint PCS. I know that Sprint doesn't use SIM cards (I believe) so I wasn't sure if this would be an option.

Any reccomendations on a phone type? I really want a PDA type device that I can put all my meetings and homework into (and integrate it with some kind of PC scheduler like office or the like) and I figure I might as well make it be my phone too so I can minimize the radiation in my pocket 😛

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank ya.

the treo 650 and the Audiovox 6700 are two popular and current PDA models. Check out sprint's website for a current phone lineup

thanks! yea I did but it only has two high priced PDA phones on there. I am wondering if I can buy a well priced say... HP phone or something, and use it on Sprint.

negative. Sprint uses CDMA technology, as opposed to most everybody else using GSM or TDMA.

If you are going to just use it as a planner to sync to PC, get a Samsung i500. You can find them cheap on ebay and they have the PalmOS. If you want to get the Sprint Data Plan, get the Treo.

CDMA carriers do not typically activate other companies phones anymore. They used to back in the days of analog phones.

I don't think you quite grasp the concept of the underlying radio technology. HP makes the iPaq communicators for TMobile. TMobile uses GSM radio technology throughout their network. Sprint uses CDMA radio technology. It's not 'bah on sprint', its more of a 'bah on HP' for not thinking there is a large enough CDMA market to release the phone with a CDMA radio.

If you're unsure if you would like a PDA Phone, pick up an older model. I would strongly suggest a PPC-6600, but if you get a good deal on a Hitachi G1000, it's a great phone as well.

www.pdaphonehome.com and www.sprintusers.com/forum would be more targeted for the kind of advice you're seeking.
