Question about PCI-e cards

why is it that you cant power a PCI-e card with a standard molex contector?

...Because they use a different plug?

Is this a trick question or something?

It can supply more power(amps) than a molex I think.

uh the pci-e one is a 6 wire plug. the current is spread out over more wires. normal molex are 4 pin and 2 of those are ground. the last agp cards with power had to use dual molex. it is a lot of strain on the physical cables if they are not of a certain gauge etc (like on cheap PSUs)

Hehe had to edit & show a different shot since the first showed serial .. not sure why guys cover it in thier pics but I'll go with the flow.😛
