question about pci bus mastering :)

does anybody can tell the different between pci slot (bus mastering) and the share one? I have maxtor ata-100 card and i think it need pci slot (bus mastering one) and i can't figure it out where i can plug it in....

your m/board manual will tell you what slots are shared.
btw that card handles irq sharing quite well.

you don't need a bus mastering slot for an add in controller card
the card has its own controller and bios
the BM pci slots are for periphs that can use it :NIC, Sound etc.
