question about pata/sata raid on canterwood

I plan on going with an Abit IC7-G and was wondering what the best pata/sata raid config would be. I currently have a maxtor 60gb w/ 8mb cache hdd. I have the opportunity to get a hold of a WD 80gb w/ 8 mb cache for around $50. Can these two drives be used in a striped raid array. If so would it be better to use the pata to sata convertors and hook 'em up with the onboard sata? Or instead should I buy a pata raid pci card? If you think I should invest in a pci pata card, which ones are best? I will be using the computer to mostly play games and I will be running windows xp pro. Thanks
