If you want to play on paradise, I can exchange paypal for real cash. I could do this on party also if your allowed to transfer cash (don't know if its an option - I've never had to before)

I think most of us have a dedicated bank acct. tied into a Neteller acct. This is a free service as long as you stick to "electronic funds transfers" only. BTW if your just starting, I would avoid PP. Go to Poker Stars or Ultimate Bet. They both have games that start a lot lower than the .50/1 games at Party. Your bankroll will last a lot longer. Good luck.

Dear z0mb13:

I have been requested by the Nigerian National Bauxite Mining Corp. to contact you for assistance in resolving a matter. The Nigerian National Bauxite Mining Corp. has recently concluded a large number of contracts for bauxite mining in the sub-Sahara region. The contracts have immediately produced moneys equalling US$4,000,000. The Nigerian National Bauxite Mining Corp. is desirous of bauxite exploration in other parts of the world, however, because of certain regulations of the Nigerian Government, it is unable to move these funds to another region.

Yo assistance is requested as a non-Nigerian citizen to assisst the Nigerian National Bauxite Mining Corp., and also the Pe Ghie Bank of Nigeria, in moving these funds out of Nigeria. If the funds can be transfered to your name, in your Party Poker acount, then you can forward the funds as directed by the Nigerian National Bauxite Mining Corp. In exchange for your accomodating services, the Nigerian National Bauxite Mining Corp. would agree to allow you to retain 10%, or US$400,000 of this amount.

However, to be a legitimate transferee of these moneys according to Nigerian law, you must presently be a depositor of at least US$100,000 in a Nigerian bank which is regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

If it will be possible for you to assist us, we would be most grateful. We suggest that you meet with us in person in Lagos, and that during your visit I introduce you to the representatives of the Nigerian National Bauxite Mining Corp., as well as with certain officials of the Pe Ghie Bank of Nigeria.

Please call me at your earliest convenience at 011 72 5 644437. Time is of the essense in this matter; very quickly the Nigerian Govrnment will realize that the Pe Ghie Bank is maintaining this amount on deposit, and attempt to levy certain depository taxes on it.

Yours truly,

Jigga

I honestly disagree. You learn tons of bad habits at anything below .5/1, and .5/1 is easily beatable if you do your homework. This is copied from another thread on intro poker I posted on :

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I strongly reccomend PokerStars and Paradise Poker for 'micro limits'. Keep in mind if you play even at .50/1 how you play at micro limits (0.10/0.05 and below) you will get absolutly slaughtered. If you really want to learn to play poker properly, I reccomend doing the following things:
0. If you've never had a basic stat class - google a page on basic probability.
1. Read this
2. Go to your local library and borrow 'The Theory of Poker' by David Slanksly. Then borrow 'Hold 'Em for Advanced Players' by Slansky and Masonolth. ILL if you have to. 'The Theory of Poker' is the cannon of poker, and 'Hold 'em for Advanced Players' is a must read. I really suggest you read these before you start playing because you will learn some BAD habits at micro limits.
3. Start playing at .5/1. The games at this level are easily beatable, and the limits are just high enough that morons are filtered out fast so you get a feal of real poker, but you really need a $50 bankroll to start. You can do this before (2) if you got a little breathing room in your bankroll, but it sounds like you don't.
4. Unless you want to loose your shirt, don't touch NL until you can beat .5/1 limit. You will get slaughtered.
Whatever you do though, PLEASE read (1) first. It will take 10 minutes at most, give you a nice cheatsheet to help you start out, and help you avoid learning some bad habits.
-Chu
P.S. - The most common mistake I see at the micro levels - DO NOT PLAY ANY ACE - A9 is not a good hand utg.
P.P.S. - The most common mistake I see at micro limit NL - Your odds to hit a flush with a suited hand preflop and 2 more suits on the board is only 37%. This means it is NOT an all in hand.
you can buy phone cards (global connect - its one of the options on the deposit page) with ccs (it works) and then use that to fund your account.
Another comment about basic probility in hold 'em. This is the most important thing to know.
Let's say you are playgin 89s, and the flop is TJ of the same suit. Quick, what are the odds you hit a flush or str8?
Answer : Because of the way the math works out, doing quick probabilities is really easy in hold 'em (and really hard in other games). Take the number of outs you have. Multiply by 2. That's your odds of hitting on the next card. In this specific example:
Outs : 9 suited cards, 3 sevens, 3, queens = 15 cards
Odds of hitting on the turn : 30%
Odds of hitting on the turn of river : 60%
One thing I notice about new players - these odds are a LOT lower then most people think they are intuitivetly. The odds do go up if we add longshots like 88, 99, and 89, but not by much.
Hey, Chu. Good advice, but I still think it's better to start lower than .50/1. I agree, you can learn a lot of bad habits in the micros, but you can also learn a lot of good ones, and if you don't learn, well it's going to be a lot cheaper to find out. As to the bankroll, I think you need at least $300 to play the .50/1, not $50. With a $50 br you'll be playing with scared money. Takes a while to learn this game. Hell, even the .05/.10 has something to teach you. First time I played I "sat" down at a .05/.10 game on Planet with $10 and those players cleaned my clock in about 20 min. lol. I can now play the .50/1 with that same $10 and sit there all night, or not. You know how it goes. Any more rumbles on an AT game at PS?
I don't know, I know a lot of people who started sucessfully at .5/1, but then again this was before micro limits existed. It's probably a lot different now. As for the rumbles, stay tuned, I'm working on something, but it's on paradise and not pokerstars since we can't exactly orginize these on anandtech.
In regards to your other thread Chu, how would you set up a game? Is that an option now in Partypoker? I'd be interested in an all ATOT poker tourney.
Yep, it's always been an option in PartyPoker since I've been playing there (albet 3 weeks), but how would we get in touch /w everyone since we can't make a thread on it? Anyways, I'm trying something on paradise right now . . . don't know if it'll work out.
Out of curiousity, how have you been doing? Also, something I stumbled across that you really should read. I've tested it out myself and, well, it works if you can figure out who the mainacs are and adjust accordingly.
