Question about P780 FD Trinitron monitor

I recently purchased this monitor to use with my system. I've noticed that about 1/3 of the way from the top and bottom of the screen there is a horizontal line running across. I've read the documentation and found that these are damper wires and the help to make the screen brighter. My question to you all is, is there anyway to make these lines less noticable? I like to watch DVD's on my computer and the lines are distracting. Also, if there is no way to get rid of them, is there a better 17" trinitron without this problem with similar quality, or even a better 19" trinitron monitor? This is probably a n00b question, but I'm not too familiar with all of this yet. TIA.

I don't think there is any way to make them less noticable, but you should get used to it very quickly. All Trinitron monitors have this characteristic. I have been using a Trinitron monitor for about 3 years now and I have to look closely to find the lines.
