Question about overclocking a Ti4200??

Ok, I just bought a Palit Daytona Ti4200 64MB. Please dont knock the card, I know its not the best, but I wanted something inexpensive.

Anyhow, in the review below (of the 128MB version) that the card hit a "sweet spot" at 303Mhz core 615MHz memory clock. They also said that extra cooling of the card would be necessary.

I would like to over clock this card, but dont exactly know how far I can push it. I will not be adding any additional cooling to my case or the card. The heatsink/fan looked pretty good on the card, but I'm not sure how it actually performs. My computer is a Dimension 8100 with one, 92mm fan in the back directly behind the CPU.

My question to you experienced overclockers: How far can I push this card without compromising the stability (I want a rock stable card) on stock cooling? Stability is paramount here, I dont want an "almost perfect" running card.

Any input is greatly appreciated🙂

Exactly! Overclock it with any utility (coolbits is very popular) and find how high you can push it to be stable. What I usually do is keep pushing the GPU/memory speeds (independently - one at a time) until they get unstable (like say for example I get it to run at 320/600 but it crashes during 3dmark 2001 SE or some other 3d program), then I back down both the core and memory by about 20-25 MHz each. As long as it never crashes my machine ever, I'm happy!

Also, this is a question that belongs in the Video section, just a heads up for next time!
