I am hoping someone can help me with situation:

My dad wants to know if you can put a password on Outlook Express when opening. They have people living with them and don't want anyone to be able to access mail when on the computer.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Asuming it's 5.0 or later, you can go up to the "file" menu and go into Identities and make an identity. Just tell it to prompt for a password when opening.

Also the KEY to making this work, is when closing outlook express, you to the "file" menu and then do a "log off and close" instead of just exiting out of outlook.

Not make an identity, Manage identities

File > Identities > Manage identities > choose the indentity > click "properties" > check the box that says "passward required" and enter in the password of your choice. Do this for each identity if there is more than one.

All done :)

Also, one more thing:

Make sure they LOG OUT of that identity, and not just close Outlook Express. If you just close it, it will open right back up with no PW required. You must LOG OUT if you want a password required the next time OE is opened.
