Question about outdoor Motion Sensor Lights

Does anyone know what the "Manual Override Bypass" on-off switch on your typical outdoor motion sensor light does? The motion-sensor light seems to work the same whether it's set to on or off.

On some motion sensors you can flick the switch On/off real quick to turn off the motion sensor and turn the light ON permanently. Flicking it on/off real quick again should turn it back to motion sensing. I'm guessing when you turn the "Manual override bypass" on, you're enabling the ability to force the light on by flicking the on/off switch.

Thanks LiQiCE! You showed me the light. 😛

Manual override is what you described, and enabling 'manual override bypass' disables (bypasses) the override function. A brief power outage can sometimes mimic the flicking of the switch and activate the manual override by accident.

Hi there,
Can anyone recommend a make of the motion sensor I can purchase in UK which will allow the override bypass by flicking the switch On/off quick, in order to turn off the motion sensor and turn the light ON permanently?

I have recently installed a motion sensor (which is linked to a number of garden lights) which has a manual override but I cannot turn it off (so I can have the lights ON permanantly) by flicking the switch on/off real quick!!
This still turns the lights off automatically after few minutes, which is not what I want!
