Question about OS customizing software

I am currently using the Stardock Suite, but to get widgets and customizable launchbars and such it requires 3 different programs to always be running. With a gig of dual channel memory I am finding just sitting at idle takes 20-30% of my memory resources. Anyone know of another resource to accomplish this? I like the Mac OSX style theme with launch bars and widgets.
