Question about order airline tickets online

I try to order airline tickets online (travelocity and priceline). Both site ask me the exact return date, but i am not sure what exact return date will be. How do i order a ticket without specify the return date? thanx

You can either:

1) Buy a ONE WAY ticket.
2) Check the ticket change policies and fines ... if they are reasonable, book a ROUND TRIP ticket with the return date weeks ahead. Then when you know when you want to return, contact the web site and change your return date for a fee (usually $25 - $50).

Keep in mind that the ticket agency will have a change fee IN ADDITION TO the airline's change fee.

The last time I changed tickets it cost a total of $125 or so.

I'd recommend buying 2 one way tickets, because buying a refundable fare adds an astronomical amount to the already bloated ticket prices.

Two one way tickets from a major airline is really expensive too. Your best bet is to look at an airline such as Jet Blue or Airtran, which don't charge you extra for a one way ticket.

For me to fly from LA to Rochester (NY), It's often $300-350 round trip with American or United (the places I have frequent flyer miles with). However, a 1 way ticket for the same date is often $400. With Jet Blue, a 1 way ticket is often $200 or less.

And priceline is absolutely the wrong place to look for a ticket if you don't know a return date.

I am buying a round trip ticket worth around 550 dollars.(international) If i buy just one way tickets it cost about 350 , so i think round trip will be best for me.
