Question about optical drives

Most, if not all can burn CDs in addition to DVDs. Although, they typically burn CDs slower than stand alone CD writing drives.

Ok so i'm getting a new comp soon and should I get a DVD bruner drive and a cd burner drive and then i'll need a floppy drive for boot disks and flashing bios's etc.

I'd get a DVD burner and a CD-ROM drive. A DVD burner+CD burner is a bit of a waste of money unless you need both the speed in DVD burning and CD burning. However, you'll still want a CD-ROM drive so you can burn backups of games. Maybe even a DVD-ROM. Those read both CDs and DVDs and you'll be able to back up your game collection AND DVD collection.

Check out the NEC dual layer DVD burners on this page. They start at 85$ Very good brand.

Also, for the DVD/CD-ROM, I'd look for one made by ASUS. They have a good rep for being silent as posted by many reviews.

Hope that helps.
