Question about online bill payment

Hey all,
GF & I live together, she bought the condo we live in with the help from her Dad and we make all the payments. Every month I write her two checks, one for room & board (mortgage, assoc fees, groceries, etc) and one for my car (bought the car from her mom, who moved out of the country).

It would be a lot easier if I could just add her as a payee to my BB&T online bill paying and send her the money that way. However I do like the security of separate, written checks for room/board & car in case things ever go REALLY bad between us (which is unlikely, 4.5 years and counting 🙂).

What is everyone's thoughts on just sending her an online e-payment that way? Potential problems or loopholes?

What would be the potential problem?

Your bank will just send her a check every month... you'll have more proof that payment is made than what you currently have now.

I'd say the thing you should be focusing on is that you are making all these payments on the condo and she is the one building equity.

No problem with that. It's just a check. My bank even let's me see a photo of the actual cashed check as well.

But I hope you realize that she is building all this equity and you have nothing to show for it.

So the bank just mails her a check? It doesn't do like an online balance transfer to that account? That doesn't make things easier, she still has to deposit the check in that case!

And I didn't think about it that way, but yes she is gaining equity on the place. It doesn't much matter to me since I couldn't afford to buy anything anyway, either way I would be paying rent and this way its pretty cheap & I get to live in a nicer place (w/my gf of course 😛). Afterall she put the $10K down on the place :Q
