I got my hands on a few recently that my friend and I are going to smash, burn, basically destroy for our website. Complete with video evidence :)

So I was pulling a couple apart to see what these old apples had inside them. (It's an obsession of mine, I pull apart everything). So I pulled apart one, I think it was a 600/60i or something similar. The thing that threw me was it had a daughterboard on it with a Cyrix 486DX2 66 processor on it. As well as the IBM PowerPC 660 chip on the motherboard. It also had 2 lots of ram, both different types. One EDO and I think the other was 32 pin memory, not sure.

Can anyone shed any light on what this actually was? I've never been a fan of apple and probably never ever will be but I just want to know what this damn thing was!

For a while apple sold comps that held both hardware for mac and PC. So what you arlooking at are the hybrids that ran both OSes.

Ah ok. I was thinking it might be something like that but I wasn't sure seeing as I never kept up with the mac world.
I also have something that looks like the predecessor to the iMac. It's an IC 572 or something. IC XXX anyway. We're thinking of painting it red and calling it an iMac. :D It still works too.

thats probably an LC, not an IC. LC stood for "low cost" and were marketed to schools and the sort. an all in one design, i guess by your description.

Sorry yes it's an LC. It was over the otherside of the room and I was too lazy to look. It's a pity half of these things don't work because I was hoping I might be able to stick PPC linux on one of them.
