Question about OC the ram.

I have a AMD 64 3200 (939)-MSI K8N NEO2 Platinium and I would like to OC it. The problem is I'm using my old RAM I had on my Barton2500......Infineon PC3200 ( no heat spreader on ) . With the CPU you have thermal reading so you know when the temp is to high...but it's not the same thing with the ram...how do you know it's not going to burn? ( could it burn even if the system is stable??? )
