Question about O/C, Barton 2500+, Epox 8RDA+, etc..

Hi all,

I'm a newbie in O/C, so bare with me.
I just bought Barton 2500+, EPOX 8RDA+, Vantec Aeroflow, Antec TrueBlue 480.

1. The fans on the Antec TrueBlue 480 is very slow. The RPM on the bios said the RPM = 1600.
Any way I can make it faster? I don't mind little bit louder since my old system is loud as hell
2. I have my old PC2100 Crucial. I have 1 stick 512mb and 256mb. I still want to use it, since I don't have money to buy a good RAM, so could anyone give me suggestion on the BIOS setting with that RAM, please.
3. Do we have to reinstall the program files, application, etc and WinXP after we O/C the computer?
4. What's a typical/common sign if the Windows don't like what we've done with O/C? since I try to O/C my old comp before and Windows update doesn't work
5. I have Logitech Elite Duo Cordless, can it work with Linksys KVM Switch? Since I try before and it won't work Is it suppose not working with KVM switch?
6. What's wrong if KVM Switch only work on 1 comp but doesn't work on the other? Both have the same OS.

Hmmmm.. i can't answer all your questions but some of them i can address...

1. leave the speed of the fan as it... i don't think you can adjust it anyway but even if you were able to... why would you want to? i think it'll be fine the way it is...

2. well... i believe that some crucial pc2100 memory have been able to hit 166 mhz but with relaxed timings.... you may want to try somewhere inbetween 133 to 166 - in the bios set it to expert i believe and change the number to somewhere in between... as for timing, just leave it as spd for now considering that you'll be running it way out of spec... if i were you though, i'd try to sell both of those sticks and get a decent stick of at least pc2700, if not pc3200 ... man, i need to go check my old 8rda+ manual but i'm sure someone with an 8rda+ can help you out here... (HELP THIS GUY OUT!!!)

3. if you're using your hard drive from your old board, you may need to delete some registry and other files... if you check the anandtech faq, it shows you how to do it w/o having to reformat your hard drive... as for me, i'd just reformat it and do a clean install of windows on the new system

4. you won't be able to even get into windows if your new system doesnt like the o/c

5. and 6... i can't help ya
