Question about Nvidia cards and Folding

I just purchased a 7900GT and when I run Folding the card's fan goes to full speed. Is Folding using Nvidia cards to offload the work from the CPU now? Is there a way to have it use just the CPU?

The constant whine of that fan gives me a headache after awhile.

Thanks

No, F@H does NOT use the GPU in any way.

I'd rather think that if you fold, the CPU heats up, so the whole PC case heats up and thus the gfx card fan kicks in. Do you have some extran fans pulling air into the case? Is your PC case more or less dust free/recently cleaned? If yes, then I'm a bit lost about why your gfx card fan would kick in. Does it really only happen with F@h or also with other sofrware that utilizes you CPU to the max?

The regular F@H client only uses the CPU.

The GPU client can only use some ATI cards.
