Question about NTFS File Permissions

I've read the FAQ's on this site as well as some other great sources. If I'm understanding this correctly, I can protect the contents of an encrypted folder (on that PC or another connected to it) by configuring the file permissions. This in turn allows access to the file based on the user's account. Correct?

Basically, I want to hook up the PC's in my daughter's rooms (8 and 12) so we can share one 'net connection and three printers. I also want to be able to load programs to their computers from mine. Lastly, I want to restrict access from their computers to work and financial files resident on my PC.

Thanks for the help.

1. for startes you need to make sure that the files you want to set permissions on reside on NTFS partition.
2. Make sure that everyone has a unique account
3. Right click on the folders and/or files that you wish to assign new permissions to and choose 'permissions'
4. from there you can assign what users/groups can access the files/folders.
