I am the administrator of our very small NT network here at work, and up until today, nobody has ever had a need to dial into the Network via RAS. The person needs access to files that are on the network from their Win98 PC at home. I have never set something like this up, so I don?t know all that I should to set something like this up.

1. Once I enable RAS in their account and they then dial in to the network, then what does the person at home do to access their files?? Do they have to map a network drive or folder on the server? Will the network drives appear in the ?My Computer? icon in Win 98 desktop on the remote PC?

2. Would using software be any easier than the above, such as ?PC Anywhere.? If I used software like this, do I have to install it only on the client PC or the server, or both? If I install this on the client, how do I use the PC Anywhere to access the files on the network?

Thanks a lot and if you could please walk me thorough, step-by-step of what I have to do I would really appreciate it.

RAS in NT couldn't be easier. You'll need to install the RAS server service (network control panel) and setup the modem, then in User Manager give the user the dial-in right. Once they connect, they just map a drive like you would if they were on the network in the office. All my users have a login script so I leave the "logon to network" checked on their dial-in adapters on their home pc's. This way when they connect via dialup their login script runs and it maps all the drives they need.

Good luck.
