Question about not eating for days.

This is a question I have been pondering about. If you go without food for days, whats the experience like? I mean when I get hungry I get stomach cramps. Do those cramps get more intense or does it stay at the same level? My friend just got back from POW camp and he didn't eat for 4 days. I just wanted to know what it would be like.

You get less hungry over time. For me its about 20 hours without food and my hunger pains go away.

The cramping pains fade away as well over time

Put into layman's terms, when your body realizes it isn't going to get food for a while, it stops annoying you.

You can go without eating for weeks (fasting). You will stop feeling hunger around the 3 day mark source ; )

Yea. For me, after the first initial part of being hungry passes, you really don't get hungry or anything after that.

I have fasted several times. It is a great way to rid your body of toxins and loose some weight if you want...to get the maximum benefit though, you need to do it for at least 14 days.

The absolute worst part is the first and second day. When you go without food, all the toxins that are lying dormant in your organs and tissues suddenly get stirred up and you will feel like MEGA SH!T. You will have the worst headaches and your body will ache all over...you won't even want to eat.

Your hunger will be there the third and maybe the 4th day but after that you are not hungry as you might think.

This is the cleansing diet I have followed twice a year.

The salt water flush is the second worst part, only because drinking that much salt water make you wanna puke for about 20 minutes, but once it passes you are good to go for the rest of the day.

I have no doubt that it might be healthy or that it will cleanse your system. But I won't be doing it. And I probably could use it considering my digestive issues. But I can name a whole lot of other things I'd rather be doing....

I went 2-3 days once without eating, I just wasn't hungry.
Possibly because I was just so busy?
Didn't bother me at all, until I missed a couple nights of sleep, wound up having a seizure!

Just FYI, get plenty of rest if you are going to fast.

There's a benefit to not eating for 14 days? Doubt it.

Go without food long enough and your body will begin to cannibalize useful muscle and other tissues. That isn't healthy.

search for some other pages about it

SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape) is a U.S. military program that provides service members, Department of Defense civilians, and contractors with training in the Code of Conduct, survival skills, evading capture, recovery and dealing with captivity. It was created by the Air Force at the end of the Korean War but was expanded to the Army and the Navy during the Vietnam War. The majority of students are aircrew members.

just a word of advice, don't want you dead:
IF you will stop eating for long time (2+ days) MAKE SURE (when you resume eating) to start eating really small amounts. I've heard horrible stories of how people started eating really fast after they were starving they died (intense stomach pains/cramps) because of eating a lot of stuff. Resume eating somewhat slowly. Start chewing on something really small, then you can increase volume back to normal.

Well if you stop eating for such a long time, your stomach "contracts" a bit? So you wouldn't feel as hungry when you start eating again, and it'll be hard to down the same portion of food as you could before.

I enjoy the stories of ex-LSD addicts (among other drug addictions) getting a high when LCD particles trapped in fat gets released back into the system after a hearty run. Many 50 year-old men that used to take acid experience this effect, and I think the image of a 50 year-old guy running around the block and suddenly tripping is a hilarious one.
