Question about no. of replies vs no. of views

Something I've always wondered about.

How can a thread end up having no. of replies > no. of views, sometimes with no. of views equal to zero? 😕

Thx.

some threads are older than others. older threads tend to exhibit these symptoms, probably because the board has been upgraded numerous times.

there are now 23 views on this thread and 1 reply. thought i'd let you know. 😛

I was thinking that each recorded view expires after some time, so it's more like the no. of "recent" views.

Nope, the system only counts since it was implemented, so earlier posts may still ahve 0.

Just as an experiment, I believe I could click reply about 50 times on this thread, opening up 50 reply windows. Then, I could close the original window, and enter 50 replies.

I'm not positive, but I think the results of that experiment would be:
A) Yes, it's possible
B) Yes, it's a vacationable offense 😛

(edit: in addition to what was already pointed out as the real reason behind this)
