Are certain nForce mobos more particular of the RAM used? I recall reading that more than others Asus mobos don't tend to run well with generic RAM. I need to put together a number of systems that won't be overclocked so would like to use cheaper RAM like Kingston Value if I can.

Plus, if anyone who is using generic RAM could give me the brands used that would be helpful.

I have an A7N8X running generic ram with LEI chips,....won't OC but it's my kids' gaming machine and it works fine.
I also have an A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 and it has run fine with Samsung ram, and is now running Kingston HyperX.

One of the nForce forums would be a good place check which boards are having trouble with which ram. May want to go here linky and check around (this link goes directly to Abit nForce boards, but you can navigate to the forums for the other nForce boards from here as well).

Thanks for the link! The ABit is currently my first choice.

I haven't heard the NForce in particular being picky on memory.. maybe only cause it's dual channel and not all memory unless exact same will run in dual channel

i have no probs running generic on my nforce2 mobos.
