Hey all, I need some help with something,

If I use a newsgroup search and find something on a certain date that I want, is there a way I can just get that file(s) with a newsgroup reader as opposed to downloading all the headers which takes waaayy too long.

Thanks a bunch

BTW, this is with easynews if that matters.

The article header contains the article ID that tells the news server what body to retrieve. As long as you get the header from the search, there's no technical reason why you can't contact the server and grab that file. Files on usenet are often yencoded, and compressed, then broken into multiple messages (as a nod to the days of very low bandwidth). Dealing with that is why most people who want files off of usenet use a newsreader... along with a good antivirus package and plenty of antibacterial soap.

Well, I found Newsleecher which has the supersearch feature, but it is 29.95 and 2.95 a month for the supersearch...a bit too steep for my tastes.

EDIT:

Das Fox...thanks a lot!

Now, the only problem is that the files I am attempting to get were posted on the 5th of November, so even though I have the nzb file, easynews says the posts are gone....guess I need to find out how to request a repost of files now
