when i map a drive from one windows 2000 machine to another windows 2000 machine, i usually get a prompt to connect as a certain user. i thought this would also be the case when i map a drive from one windows xp machine to another, but it does not appear so. is there a way i can make windows xp force a peer to peer network user to connect as a certain user, so that the user account must exist on the host machine. do u guys know what i mean?

If you are using Simple File Sharing you will need to turn it off or make the folder private (I think that is how it is referred as). With simple file sharing the Guest account is used to share folders and therefore you do not need to enter a user name and password. When Simple File Sharing is turned off, Win XP reverts to the Win2k way of sharing files.
