How do people tell the Navigation system what their destination location is?? There is no keyboard and most of them dont' have voice recognition..so how do the systems in Acuras, Lex, etc.. know where you wanna go?
You enter the destination using menus or a pointer. In my GPS, you can enter an address/intersection/waypoint using a rocker button. Then select Go To and it will point you in that direction. I don't believe any are smart enough to tell you when to turn, unless you build the route yourself.
So it has all the intersections in its database and you just select it?? Damn..thats gotta take some time to find it if you have to go thru all of them.

3rd party GPS software will tell you when to turn, i dont know about OEM though.
The way I use it is I find the destination, select Go To, and then look for roads that get me there. An alternative is to set the intersections as waypoints, then connect them. Some allow you to connect the dots using a pointer, and routes you from point to point.
