Question about my new Gateway 6400 Server and MS W2K Server

on the website, gateway suggests MS win2k server software
i was wondering if anyone uses win2k pro on it instead of server
i dont want to be using extra memory that server requires over pro
basically i rather have the machine be a workstation than a server

makes no diff, win9x should also run on it depending if u got the drivers.

How many processors do you want to use? I seem to recall that professional will only run two. Could be wrong though.

Yep, 2K Professional supports up to 2 processors and up to 4GB of RAM. As long as you're within those limits, you should be alright using 2K Professional instead of 2K Server.

yea im well within the limits of pro
its gonna be dual 933mhz
rather small but fast 9 gig ultra160 scsi hd
and 256 ram up to 2gigs
as for win9x, no one got it up and running with that because no one seems to be able to find the necessary drivers.
i wouldnt want win9x either, much too unstable for a workstation
but if you guys want to get in on this server, its the one posted under hot deals
just slap on a voodoo 5500 pci (cuz its got no agp) and thats one heck of a fast gaming machine too
