Question about my new Canon S400 camera...

I got a new S400 yesterday from Dell. There is one dead pixel that always stays green.

Is this a problem that I can get an exchange for? Thanks.

EDIT: New problem!!
I tried to install the Canon software last night and it was having problems. It would say "Cannot find g:\....\Data1.cab" but when I checked the CD-ROM, that file was on there. I rebooted and tried my other CD-ROM Drive, but it still didn't work! What is going on?

I got it for $410 (plus another $12/3% off from going through Fatcash).

I haven't gotten to play with it much so I don't know how much I like it yet. So far it has not been good (see OP).

GoodToGo, If you are looking for a case, Longs Drugs had two really small nylon, foam-padded cases by Samsonite and Tamrac. I went with the Sammy because it had a wrist strap.

Trust me, the compactness is amazing. I got hte camera for the same price. Also I havent tried installing the software yet so I will have to get back to you on that. Thanks for the info on the camera cases🙂

i'd assume canon had the same defect idea as others, being that one dead pixel is just part of the technology. i'd give it back to dell for an exchange, cause a dead pixel on a 1.5" is nasty

i'm waiting until this camera gets down to the $350 area like before in march or something. seems really nice when i go to best buy and look at it. makes me want it more. my nikon coolpix 775 is getting old.

Dell is OK'ing the camera as a defective unit because of the LCD and I should get it replaced no problem.

As for the software installation, it seems that the installation software was case sensitive, which is weird. The error message said "could not find g:\...\Data1.cab" On the CD-ROM, the file is titled DATA1.CAB.

I copied the disc to hard drive and changed the name to lowercase and was able to install the software.

Anyone else experience this? Why am I the only one?

Many Canon owners have reported that pictures from several of Canon's digital camera are too soft and not sharp enough. I was looking at the A70 but the softness everyone was report drove me away. It can be corrected in Photoshop but who has time to fix every picture. I went with the new Sony V1. One of the best decisions I've ever made.
